New Entry Rules to Kazakhstan - QAZEta

Starting from January 01, 2027 Kazakhstan is launching Electronic Travel Authorization (QAZEta) which is a very close equivalent of e-visa for citizens of all countries who previously enjoyed visa-free stay.

Transition period is from January 01, 2027 until July 01, 2027. During the period it is advisable but not mandatory; border guards explain the need to complete the required formalities for future trips.

The mandatory requirement will then be introduced on July 01, 2027 at all border posts. Authorization is mandatory at all points of entry; without it, entry will be denied.

Exemption:

• children under 16 years of age and citizens over 65 years of age;

• holders of a valid Kazakhstan visa, temporary residence permit and residence permit;

Travellers will need to apply through the QazETA mobile application, generally at least 72 hours before travelling. The authorization is valid for 180 days. The application requires travellers to provide passport information, complete identity verification and NFC passport scanning through the mobile application.

The fee is expected to be approximately USD 7–10; the final fee is subject to official confirmation.
